NHL expanding to Seattle in 2014?

I would love to see it happen. The fact that some divisions have only 7 teams and others 8 is certainly a problem. Unfortunately, I would think RELOCATION rather than expansion would be a better idea, but that's my opinion. If the Florida Panthers ceased to exist tomorrow, nobody would notice (for previous example, see also: Thrashers, Atlanta).

If you were the NHL king, what would your first order of business be? Well, besides re-naming the new 'Metropolitan Division' something else...

Removal of all "contact to the head" penalties

Who and where?

Honestly, don't know much about hockey, are the Coyotes still broke or owned by the league? They'd be my first move. Seattle, Quebec, or Hartford. I'd be an instant fan of the Nordiques or Whalers coming back.

Kansas City would be a good location. Sprint Center already exists and could be a good new rivalry for the Blues. and would fit geographically in the west/midwest.

I can't believe that place has been open six years without an NBA or NHL tenant already, wow.

I remember going to Scouts (NHL) and Kings (NBA) games in the mid 70's when I was young. Had aunt and uncle that lived there. KC is a great city.

Does Winnepeg have AHL teams ?

It had the Manitoba Moose until the Jets moved into town. (Much like the Minnesota Moose moved to Winnipeg when the Wild began playing). Typically, cities with AHL teams lose the AHL team when an NHL team moves in. Chicago is an exception, having both.

And Toronto.
