Who will be the leaders on thisteam?

I noticed some guys who were mentioned to be gone are still listed- Taj Rich and Marcus Cheatom.

If true, I'm pleased to see those two are returning. During spring ball, I felt that those two could contribute to the defense in 2014. Cheatom is a big-bodied defensive lineman who has potential and Taj Rich also possesses the size necessary to play quality minutes as a linebacker.

I thought some of the position changes are interesting. AJ Stockwell was moved from #98 and TE to #78 and OL (where I always thought he would be). Cieslak was noted as coming in as a possible H-Back, but he's coming in as a DL, Mat Cox has moved from DE to OL, Jake Disterhaupt is now listed as a LB again, Javen Butler is again listed as a DB........should be an interesting year :)

EDIT: Also just noticed that Shea Walker is listed as OL. Wonder if some of the changes just weren't made or if they are actually moving him back to OL. Thought he looked good at NG during the spring.......

Well, for starters, Baylee Carr is the senior whom Coach Schweigert chose to bring with him to the Big Sky Media Event. That likely means Carr will be in a leadership role.

I also think that Alex Tillman will be a leader on the defense, although he is new so you don't really know about his personality (although I'm not sure they would have taken him if he didn't at least have some leadership characteristics). Seems to have a little bit of that veteran presence. On offense, I'm thinking that RJ McGill will definitely be a leader, as well as Brandon Anderson. Would love one of the QB's to snatch the job and really grow into the leadership role as well.

Absolutely.

This fall, either Mollberg or Bartels needs to become The Guy and be the man behind center for the next 3 years. Solidifying that position will go a long way towards playoffs in 2015 and 2016.

After all the updates, Taj Rich and Cheatom are still listed on the roster. Looks like maybe they're still around.

From what I am finding Taj is taking summer classes for what it's worth... Don't know if that is changing for Fall but he is/has taken a summer class

How about the DL or LB. We need someone or someones to step up and perform. Sack leader, TFL's, blitzing demon and Slobknocker push 'em back performers. Whom could this be? Hinojosa, Labatt, Idowu, Walker, Cummings, Ratelle, Nelson.

Hinojosa has the talent to be an absolute force on the d-line, so he's possible. I'm also expecting big things from Ratelle with Coach Schmidt coaching him up.

I'm expecting big things from Ratelle this year. I think Idowu will have a good year as well. Wild cards are Bakker (who after doing some research I've heard/seen some positive things), Butler and Norberg. I think that Rich, Labatt, Hickel and Reineke could be solid contributors for a down here and there, but the I'm hoping that the three wild cards I've mentioned can really make some things happen this year.

On the DL, Walker should be a pretty good force. I think Cummings has the size, now he just needs that mean streak. Not sure what to expect from Hinojosa, to be honest, although I think a line of Cummings, Walker and Hinojosa could be good. Rotate in Cheatom and Carrothers and it may have the potential to be a solid (but not spectacular) line this year.

I agree on the wild cards. I would like some nice surprises. Injuries will be a real key. We are thin all over.

After last year I thought DB's would be our biggest weakness. Bubba has brought in some good ones so I feel better about that I think will surprise some of the Big Sky teams.

Also, I know it's been discussed before, but I'm wondering which freshmen have the potential to have their shirts pulled. Fully expecting Taubenheim to be one. Wonder if Tank Harris or Drew Greeley or even Ceislak would be possibilities on the DL. Not sure if any linebackers are ready, but Chris Carter at DB seems like a possibility as well. On the offensive side, thinking that Jake Francis has a shot on the OL, although that is one position that I'd love to be able to redshirt the guys so they can get stronger before being thrown in. I think that maybe Dev Ferguson at WR would be another potential, although with McGill, Ivery, Carr, Cerriteno, Bridges (who I think has some promise), and Casey Young we may be okay there, unless of course Ferguson (or even Brandon Walker) perform better than them and earn some playing time.

Ceislak has speed and strength might be able to contribute this year. The film on Carter and Francis looks good. I'm getting excited. Secured my season tickets and tailgate pass.

I read on one of the Montana board's a post having us a 1-6 after seven weeks. We shall see.

All depends on how the team comes together. So many new faces and unknowns. If everything comes together we could surprise some people. If not, 1-6 is entirely possible.

This program really needs a season that will bring some measure of respect both in the conference and in the community. Too many years now of being lumped in with the irrelevant programs in the conference. Being 1-6 at that point would look really bad, even if the coaches feel there is improvement.
