Frozen Faceoff 2015

Going! Trying to choose a hotel that is both affordable and close by.

If you go on the NCHC website they have a special Frozen Faceoff rate for hotels nearby. We are staying at Mpls. Marriot City Center, $129/night. Connected to Target Center by skywalk. We stayed there last year, where the team stayed, loaded with Sioux fans. $129 is cheaper than a hotel in Grand Forks on a hockey weekend. Parked our car on Thu.,didnt see it again til Sun. Can walk everywhere.

I stayed at the Marriot last year, it was pretty nice. Staying there this year too.

Staying at the Crowne.  It's a few blocks to walk, but kind of a second home for us - plus, paying with points is tough to beat!

FYI just booked my room through priceline 'name your own price'. Chose dowtown minneapolis, 4 star hotel, and it was accepted at $65/night at the Marriot City Center which is a couple of blocks from the Target Center.

I've never used priceline name your own price before. Can you still cancel these rooms if your offer is accepted?

No, you're required to put your credit card information in up front.  There are a few websites that give you a decent idea of the hotel you may end up with.  I've used it a handful of times and been happy with the results every time except once and that was more on me than them and was still fine overall just slightly different than expected.

It's a prepay so the one downside is that you can't cancel or change your reservation once it's accepted.  However, I did save about $160 on our stay versus booking straight through the hotel. But the map they show you gives you a good idea of where you'll be downtown Minneapolis and I believe all hotels would be connected by skyway.

I have had great luck with Priceline.com and you can also play with paypal if you like as well.

NICE!

I got nailed with $199 for Thursday, and $119 for Friday/Saturday

We will also be going to the Wild /Blues game Saturday at 2. Full weekend of puck.

I want to do this too (thanks for the tip) there is a FFO game then but we should be playing at night if not I'd rather see Oshie Porter & Parise

We are thinking of getting upper level tickets for the family. Are there any sections to avoid, or are the sight lines fine from anywhere?

i took my family last year and it was soooooo cold in the upper level that on day two (Saturday) we all had to wear winter coats and gloves. so in conclusion if you sit upper level bring hats and a warm winter coat.

That was a problem back in 2000 as well, especially during the WI/UND championship game. Apparently Target Center can't keep the ice in good condition unless the upper deck temp is below 50 degrees.

I'm surprised I don't remember it being cold.  Although, I was a few beers deep knowing what scenario of events needed to play out for us to make the NCAAs :)
