UND dominates College Hockey 100 Years Awards

As part of its celebration of 100 years of college hockey, the American Hockey Coaches Association sponsored a ballot to select the all-time favorites of college hockey.
UND won:
- The 1986-87 national champion Sioux were named the all-time favorite West team. 1969-70 Cornell Big Red won the East.
- Tony Hrkac (UND) was named the best player of the 1980s and 90s in the West.
- UND jersey featuring the Blackhawk logo on the front and crossed tomahawks on an "S" on the sleeves was named the favorite jersey of the West.
- The "Fighting Sioux" nickname was named the best in the West
- Engelstad Arena was named the third best in the West, behind Mariucci and Wisconsin's Dane County Coliseum.
- Four UND players were named to the 26-player all-time West team: Tony Hrkac, Greg Johnson, Bill Steenson, Reg Morelli
Other winners from the West were:
- Player of the 1950s and earlier -- John Mayasich, Minnesota
- Coach of the 1960s/1970s -- Murray Armstrong, Denver
- Toughest road trip -- Anchorage or Fairbanks
