  • North Dakota's 7th NCAA Championship was the first one played in the month of April
  • With the 2000 championship, Dean Blais had led the Sioux to two titles in five years behind the bench
  • Providence, R.I., has been home to three Sioux championships
  • Lee Goren of Winnipeg, Manitoba, led the nation and the WCHA in goals with 34
  • Jeff Panzer, Grand Forks, ND, was a Hobey Baker finalist
  • UND had been eliminated from the 1999 Tournament by Boston College in the Western regionals in Madison, WI
